About The Position

The Registered Nurse is a professional nurse registered in Massachusetts who is responsible and accountable for planning and providing patient care for assigned patients according to the Nursing Department’s Clinical Practice Manual standards of care. The nurse demonstrates initiative, knowledge, and clinical skills in caring for patients with complex needs, and manages patient care through assessment, planning, implementation, and evaluation. The nurse is directly responsible to a designated nurse manager or supervisor and helps ensure the Patient and Family Centered Care Model is practiced in an environment that exemplifies best practice. This position is based on the 7 North unit at Brigham and Women’s Faulkner Hospital, a 249-bed nonprofit community teaching hospital in Jamaica Plain. The schedule is 36 hours per week on day/evening shifts, with an every-other-weekend and holiday commitment. The role is onsite.

Requirements

Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN).
Massachusetts Registered Nurse licensure.
Evidence of basic analytical thinking necessary to care for a group of patients.
Observational skills and the ability to set priorities.
Ability to function under stress.
Good interpersonal and communication skills.
Effective skills in applying hospital standards related to service, teamwork, communication, respect for others, and time and priority management.

Nice To Haves

Medical/surgical/telemetry experience preferred.

Responsibilities

Plan and provide care for assigned patients in accordance with Nursing Standards of Care in the Nursing Department’s Clinical Practice Manual.
Assess, plan, implement, and evaluate patient care, assuming full responsibility for managing assigned patients.
Demonstrate initiative, knowledge, and clinical skills in caring for patients with complex needs.
Support the practice of the Patient and Family Centered Care Model and best-practice care.
Adhere to all I.C.A.R.E. standards and hospital standards for service, teamwork, communication, respect, and time and priority management.
