The CNA is an essential member of the patient care team who contributes to the well-being and comfort of patients during their stay by providing direct and indirect patient care under the direction of the registered nurse. This role involves supporting and promoting the mission and values of Covenant Health Ministry. The CNA performs assigned treatments, procedures, and other related tasks according to facility policies/protocols and within the scope of the CNA position. This includes assisting with personal hygiene, toileting, ambulation, mobility, positioning, mealtime, oral care, and foley drains/ostomies, as needed, utilizing adaptive equipment as indicated. The CNA actively participates in the established plan of care, responds promptly to call lights, provides transport, maintains a clean environment, and follows principles of infection control. Accurate documentation on graphic and flow sheets in computer charting, including vital signs, weights, and ADL care provided, is essential. The role also requires maintaining confidentiality, privacy, and patient rights, as well as maintaining required licenses, certifications, and competencies, and completing annual compliance courses on time. Specific to the Ortho Dept, the CNA will work with surgical patients who have had joint replacements and abide by the standards of care set forth by St. Mary's Hip & Knee Replacement Interdisciplinary Team. For the Float Pool CNA role, the individual reports for assignment and proceeds to any department that the Director/Manager/Nursing Supervisor assigns, without delay, and may be asked to float to other departments. Supporting student learning is a shared responsibility, and every team member is expected to contribute to creating a welcoming environment and actively assist students in their educational experience, regardless of their specific role. Other duties consistent with this role may also be assigned.
