This position is 5 - 8 hour shifts Monday - Friday, with schedule hours from 10:30 am to 7:00 pm (Mid Shift). The overall nature and purpose of this position is to perform all routine laboratory testing. The role involves rotating through different bench areas of the laboratory, assisting with specimen computer entry and processing, and maintaining a clean work area. The technician will also orient new staff members and assist in training MLT students. Key responsibilities include providing accurate and reproducible results for various tests, utilizing critical thinking to interpret data, reporting results within established timeframes, and performing independent problem-solving for patient samples, equipment, and procedures. The role also requires recognizing and reporting critical results, performing and understanding quality control programs, participating in proficiency testing and continuing education, and proficiently operating the LIS and other computer programs. Additionally, the position may involve performing venipunctures and capillary sticks, assisting in the preparation of new procedures and reagents, and providing excellent customer service to patients, families, providers, and other staff members.
