About The Position
The Med Lab Assistant, under direct supervision, performs routine laboratory analytical procedures related to preparing and storing human biological samples, blood and body fluids, for microbiological, hematological, immune-hematological and chemical analysis. This role also involves releasing and/or placing orders in hospital and laboratory computer systems, receiving, processing and distributing specimens and/or blood products. Key functions include loading samples onto analyzers, preparing slides for staining, and preparing samples for transport to other laboratories. This role is essential for specimen processing, sample preparation, analyzer support, and order management. With a shortage of medical technologists, this position is further justified.
Requirements
- High School graduate or equivalent
- Computer operational skills using a personal computer, laboratory system or other hospital information system
Nice To Haves
- Health related or science background with lab specific experience preferred
