About The Position

Mechatronics Technician Location: On-site, State College, PA Metal additive manufacturing technology is evolving quickly from a niche tool used mainly in university research to an industry tool for developing and manufacturing products faster and more affordably. Xact Metal, headquartered in State College, PA, is making metal additive manufacturing systems affordable for small- to mid-sized companies that need prototyping, tooling, and part manufacturing but could not previously afford metal powder-bed fusion systems. Job Description: Mechatronics Technician The Mechatronics Technician ensures and maintains the availability of production, quality, and building equipment, continually improving performance. Overall responsibilities include, but are not limited to, the following: Assemble systems, including mechanical, electrical, and software subsystems. Experience with electro-optics is a plus. Detailing & documenting assembly procedures. Effective coordination and execution of the assigned tasks and work orders. Ensure compliance with quality systems and all required standards, including customer-specific requirements, and maintain the quality, effectiveness, and cleanliness of your area of responsibility. Develop in-depth product knowledge for assembly testing and troubleshooting. Provide customer installation service, which may include travel (15%) to the customer location. Meet OSHA/safety requirements in the work area; maintain as required.

Requirements

  • Associate's degree in mechatronics or equivalent experience
  • Applicants must be authorized to work full-time in the United States.
  • Local applicants or those who can report to work punctually at the company’s office in State College, PA, during normal work hours (and as needed) to meet business requirements are encouraged to apply.

Nice To Haves

  • Experience with electro-optics is a plus.
  • Passion for 3D printing.
  • Work experience in Additive Manufacturing/3D Printing.
  • Hands-on experience in mechatronics machine/system design.
  • Technical knowledge and skills in the following: Electrical, electronic, mechanical, and electro-optics systems.
  • Able to read blueprints and schematics.
  • Teamwork, ability to set priorities, and transparent communication.
