About The Position

The Mechanical Thermal Engineer will support various projects located in Pasadena, California as part of the NASA/JPL MASS contract. The position will perform thermal and structural analyses of electronic hardware designs and systems/subsystems, including enclosures.

Requirements

  • This position requires US Citizenship or Permanent Resident status due to the sensitivity of customer related information.
  • Must have a TS/SCI (SSBI) Level clearance.
  • Must have a bachelor's degree degree in mechanical engineering, aeronautical engineering, or physics.
  • Must have a minimum of 15 years of recent and related work experience.
  • Extensive experience in structural/thermal analysis and testing of electronic hardware and related disciplines.
  • Proficient in thermal and structural design and analysis software such as Thermal Synthesizer System (TSS), ANSYS, COSMOS, Thermal Analyzer System (TAS), and Solid Works or equipment.
  • Proficient background in electronics packaging, engineering or manufacturing.
  • Ability to communicate well in verbal and written correspondence with multiple job disciplines.
  • Must have experience with Microsoft Office Suite, Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and TEAMS.

  • Able to communicate effectively, verbally and in written form, with internal and external customers.
  • Able to follow company programs, processes, procedures, practices, requirements, goals, and objectives.
  • Must be organized with good time management skills and must be able to work outside normal schedule and adjust schedule to meet peak periods and surge requirements.

Nice To Haves

  • Experience reviewing Quality Assurance documentation, including verification of material certifications, test data, and full material traceability to purchase‑order requirements.
  • Background in environmental requirements engineering and testing.
  • Demonstrated capability in writing clear and detailed inspection reports, discrepancy documentation, and nonconformance records.
  • Ability to work effectively in a fast‑paced environment while maintaining accuracy, attention to detail, and strong organizational skills.
  • Demonstrated teamwork and collaboration skills, including supporting peers, sharing knowledge, and contributing to a positive work environment.

Responsibilities

  • Perform thermal and structural analyses of electronic hardware designs.
  • Determine component temperatures for a variety of environments and assess random vibration fatigue life.
  • Review analysis submitted by subcontractors to JPL projects.
  • Support environmental test programs.
  • Support program/project design reviews.
  • Interact extensively with project personnel.
  • Other duties as assigned.
