About The Position

The Mechanical Thermal Engineer will support various projects located in Pasadena, California as part of the NASA/JPL MASS contract. The position will perform thermal and structural analyses of electronic hardware designs and systems/subsystems, including enclosures.

Requirements

This position requires US Citizenship or Permanent Resident status due to the sensitivity of customer related information.
Must have a TS/SCI (SSBI) Level clearance.
Must have a bachelor's degree degree in mechanical engineering, aeronautical engineering, or physics.
Must have a minimum of 15 years of recent and related work experience.
Extensive experience in structural/thermal analysis and testing of electronic hardware and related disciplines.
Proficient in thermal and structural design and analysis software such as Thermal Synthesizer System (TSS), ANSYS, COSMOS, Thermal Analyzer System (TAS), and Solid Works or equipment.
Proficient background in electronics packaging, engineering or manufacturing.
Ability to communicate well in verbal and written correspondence with multiple job disciplines.
Must have experience with Microsoft Office Suite, Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and TEAMS.

Nice To Haves

Experience reviewing Quality Assurance documentation, including verification of material certifications, test data, and full material traceability to purchase‑order requirements.
Background in environmental requirements engineering and testing.
Demonstrated capability in writing clear and detailed inspection reports, discrepancy documentation, and nonconformance records.
Ability to work effectively in a fast‑paced environment while maintaining accuracy, attention to detail, and strong organizational skills.
Demonstrated teamwork and collaboration skills, including supporting peers, sharing knowledge, and contributing to a positive work environment.

Responsibilities

Perform thermal and structural analyses of electronic hardware designs.
Determine component temperatures for a variety of environments and assess random vibration fatigue life.
Review analysis submitted by subcontractors to JPL projects.
Support environmental test programs.
Support program/project design reviews.
Interact extensively with project personnel.
Other duties as assigned.
