About The Position

GeoSpectrum is growing and looking for a Mechanical Technologist to join our Manufacturing team! Reporting to the manager of Sonar Product Integration, the Mechanical Technologist will work at the intersection of design and manufacturing, supporting the build and integration of advanced underwater acoustic systems used in real‑world maritime applications. You’ll have the opportunity to design tooling, improve production processes, and collaborate closely with a multidisciplinary team, seeing your work move from concept through to production and deployment. Requirements

  • Diploma in Mechanical Engineering Technology, or a minimum of two years of equivalent practical experience.
  • Proven experience designing and developing manufacturing fixtures and tooling.
  • Exposure to lean manufacturing principles and practices.
  • Formal training or hands‑on experience using 3D mechanical drafting software.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to produce clear technical documentation.
  • Ability to work independently while effectively managing multiple projects and priorities simultaneously.
  • All candidates must be eligible to apply for and maintain Canadian Controlled Goods and Canadian Government Security Clearances.

Responsibilities

  • Support GeoSpectrum’s manufacturing operations across a diverse product portfolio, including underwater acoustic sensor arrays and large‑scale mechanical winch assemblies.
  • Evaluate manufacturing and assembly processes to identify tooling and equipment requirements, and support their implementation.
  • Design and develop custom manufacturing fixtures and tooling that enable efficient, repeatable, and reliable production.
  • Contribute to product updates and new product introductions through detailed mechanical design of components and assemblies, with a focus on manufacturability and performance.
  • Review mechanical drawings to ensure accuracy, completeness, and compliance with applicable standards.
  • Participate in engineering design reviews, providing thoughtful and constructive technical input.
  • Develop and maintain clear assembly and test procedures to support manufacturing teams.
  • Work closely with manufacturing teams to identify design improvements that reduce assembly effort, errors, and inefficiencies.
  • Ensure compliance with the Quality Management System across documentation, processes, and production activities.
  • Collaborate with cross‑functional teams, including manufacturing, mechanical, electrical, and software engineering groups.
