About The Position

The Mechanical Technician assembles and prepares electrical industrial control panels before they advance to the wiring department. The role mounts, secures, and stages mechanical components according to engineering drawings, ensuring each panel is complete, accurate, and ready for the next assembly stage. The position is with WEG Electric Corp., a manufacturer of industrial electric motors and related electrical equipment.

Requirements

High School Diploma or GED.
Ability to read and work from mechanical prints, schematics, and BOMs.
Proficiency with hand and power tools, including drills, bandsaws, and taps, and with measuring instruments.
Strong attention to detail and ability to follow detailed instructions.
Ability to work to a cycle-time or production target.
Must be authorized to work in the United States; visa sponsorship is not offered.

Nice To Haves

At least 1 year of experience in panel, electromechanical, or mechanical assembly is preferred.
Hands-on experience with 5S and Kaizen events.

Responsibilities

Read and interpret mechanical assembly drawings, panel layouts, and bills of materials (BOMs).
Mount and secure components onto sub-panels and enclosures.
Lay out, mark, drill, tap, cut, and punch back-panels and enclosures to specification.
Apply component labels and wire markers according to documentation.
Kit, stage, and verify components against Production Orders before panels move to wiring.
Use hand and power tools and measuring instruments.
Follow torque specifications and standard work instructions, and perform in-process self-inspections.
Identify and flag non-conforming parts and assemblies.
Maintain a clean, organized, 5S-compliant workstation and contribute to continuous improvement.
Use required Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) and adhere to safety standards.
