Mechanical Technician $5,000 SIGN ON BONUS
About The Position
Novelis Oswego is hiring a Mechanical Technician to maintain, service, and repair facilities and equipment. The role includes installing and maintaining machines and plant equipment, responding to emergency production-equipment repairs, and performing scheduled maintenance. Technicians receive training in troubleshooting, technical procedures, and safety. Successful candidates are fast learners, self-motivated and able to work independently, under pressure, and in varying conditions. The position is based at Novelis’s Oswego, New York plant, which produces aluminum sheet for automotive, beverage-can, and specialty markets. Pay starts at $40.50 USD per hour and varies based on qualifications, experience, and performance. A $5,000 sign-on bonus is advertised.
Requirements
- Two-year Mechanical Technician degree or five or more years of experience.
- Medical clearance to use a fall-protection harness; weight restrictions related to equipment limitations may apply.
- Machine repair and troubleshooting skills.
- Experience using hand tools and measuring instruments.
- Welding experience.
Nice To Haves
- Manufacturing experience preferred.
- Experience with pipe fitting, centrifugal pipe repair, rigging and lifting, rotating equipment, industrial hydraulic power, bearings, industrial lubrication, and statistical process control.
- Relevant military occupational experience; the posting lists potential Army, Navy, Coast Guard, Marine Corps, and Air Force MOS crosswalks.
Responsibilities
- Install and maintain machines and plant-facility equipment.
- Provide emergency and unscheduled repairs of production equipment during production.
- Perform scheduled maintenance repairs of production equipment during machine service.
- Perform simple machinist duties and responsibilities.
- Use mechanical, electrical, pneumatic, and hydraulic skills to troubleshoot and repair production machines.
- Read and interpret equipment manuals and work orders to perform required maintenance and service.
- Diagnose problems, replace or repair parts, test equipment, and make adjustments.
- Perform regular preventive maintenance on machines, equipment, and plant facilities.
- Comply with safety regulations and maintain clean and orderly work areas.
