Chemours is seeking a Mechanical Technician to join our Manufacturing & Operations team. This position will be available at the New Johnsonville, TN site and report directly to the Maintenance First Line Supervisor. The Mechanical Technician supports safe, reliable, and efficient plant operations by maintaining, repairing, installing, and troubleshooting mechanical and processing equipment in a high-hazard chemical manufacturing environment. This role applies hands-on technical expertise to improve maintenance techniques, equipment reliability, and operational performance while demonstrating strong safety and ethical standards.

Requirements

  • High School Diploma or equivalent.
  • Minimum of five (5) years of industrial maintenance experience with millwright and pipefitting skills, OR Minimum of two (2) years of industrial maintenance experience plus an Associate Degree or equivalent technical or military training.
  • Ability to work rotating shifts and perform physical job requirements including climbing, PPE use, and extended hours.

Nice To Haves

  • Prior experience in chemical or high-hazard manufacturing environments.
  • Experience with rotating equipment reliability and preventive maintenance programs.

Responsibilities

  • Repair and maintain machinery and mechanical equipment within manufacturer specifications using hand tools, power tools, and precision instruments.
  • Install, maintain, repair, and troubleshoot pumps, compressors, piping, valves, boilers, and rotating equipment.
  • Perform preventive and corrective maintenance, including equipment overhauls and alignments.
  • Complete Lock, Tag, and Try (LTT) procedures to ensure equipment safety.
  • Follow all safety, health, and environmental procedures, including proper PPE use.
  • Perform vessel entries, chemical equipment breaks, and inspections following site safety rules.
  • Collaborate with operators, engineers, I&E technicians, and vendors to resolve mechanical issues.
  • Prepare and maintain maintenance logs, calibration data, and compliance records.
  • Inspect plant areas, generate work orders, and support shutdown and overhaul planning.
