Mechanical Technician II

Water Technologies•Norfolk, VA

About The Position

The Mechanical Technician II assembles, fabricates, and quality-checks components used in specialized water treatment systems. The role includes intricate pipe fitting with materials such as stainless steel, fiberglass, CPVC, and PVC, and operation of fabrication equipment including ironworkers, band saws, drill presses, and forklifts. The technician works from complex engineering drawings and specifications, assembles piping spools with minimal supervision, and performs self-inspections and quality documentation. The role also includes mentoring Mechanical Technician I staff, following EHS and quality requirements, maintaining 5S practices, and performing confined-space entries in specialized tank environments. This fabrication-shop position involves spending most of the workday standing, with some bending and fine motor work. Appropriate personal protective equipment is required. The technician may need to lift up to 50 pounds without assistance; cranes, hoists, and pallet jacks assist with nearly all heavy-part movement. Veolia describes the role as offering mentoring, technical and commercial training, and opportunities for career advancement in water treatment and environmental sustainability.
