As a Mechanical Technician team member, you will support facility initiatives and daily tasks focused on people, safety, quality, velocity and cost. As a team member, you will be responsible for safely assembling heavy paving products according to model pictures and build instructions utilizing mechanical tools, torque tools, metric units, hydraulics and electrical components within allotted process time. You will work with team members on identifying, electronically documenting and communicating opportunities for improvement, communicating discrepancies, and recommending solutions. Work with limited supervision.

Requirements

  • 2 years' experience in a mechanic or assembly field, heavy equipment assembly, or technical school with a focus in a mechanical or manufacturing field.
  • Relevant experiences such as mechanical aptitude in a personal or professional setting must be described in application.
  • Must pass background screening.
  • Must pass drug screening.
  • Must pass post-offer medical questionnaire (clearance from Corporate Medical).

Nice To Haves

  • 6 months minimum Caterpillar Paving experience
  • Heavy assembly, manufacturing machines, Caterpillar manufacturing experience or automotive
  • Intermediate or greater proficiency using electronic and digital devices and mediums
  • Experience using mechanical tools including torque tools and operation of crane equipment
  • Understanding of metric units, hydraulics and electrical components
  • Good communication skills

Responsibilities

  • Safely assembling heavy paving products according to model pictures and build instructions utilizing mechanical tools, torque tools, metric units, hydraulics and electrical components within allotted process time.
  • Working with team members on identifying, electronically documenting and communicating opportunities for improvement.
  • Communicating discrepancies and recommending solutions.
  • Operating overhead cranes, jib cranes and hoists.
  • Lifting up to 35 lbs frequently.
  • Working at multiple heights.
  • Climbing on equipment, machines, ladders and various step stools.
  • Standing for a minimum of 8-hour shifts with minimal breaks.
  • Working in an environment with frequently changing temperatures.
  • Working with magnets that may impact medical devices.
  • Kneeling, squatting, and crawling on knees.
  • Working in awkward positions, including forward reach, lateral reach, squat, overhead reaching, twisting, and forward head and rotation of the neck.
  • Working in tight spaces.
  • Repetitive grasping, pushing, pulling, rotating.
  • Using fine motor skills.
  • Using hand tools including wrenches, air tools, drills, cutters, tie wrap guns, pneumatic, vibratory, etc.
  • Pulling manual torque tools to torque requirements (at least 250 Newton meters or 185-foot pounds).
