About The Position
The Mechanical Technician performs field machining and mechanical work with minimal supervision, ensuring safe and efficient job execution from setup through completion. Core scope includes cold cutting and beveling, flange facing/re-facing, line boring, pipe transitioning, pump base milling and alignment, bolting, torquing, and tensioning, and hydro testing support. The role also includes supporting complex work scopes, guiding Mechanical Assistants, and contributing to equipment upkeep and operational improvements.
Requirements
- 3–5 years of mechanical or field machining experience
- Working knowledge of machining processes (cutting, facing, boring, etc.)
- Ability to read basic drawings and procedures
- Strong mechanical and problem-solving skills
- Grade 12 or equivalent
- Physically capable of field work
- Leadership capability and teamwork skills
- Commitment to safety and quality
Nice To Haves
- Experience in industrial or field environments
- Bolting and hydro testing experience
- Journeyman Machinist
Responsibilities
- Execute field machining work through completion
- Guide and support Mechanical Assistants
- Coordinate job setup, execution, and teardown
- Maintain equipment readiness and reliability

- Verify materials, tools, and job preparation

- Perform machining tasks including cutting, beveling, facing, boring, and milling

- Set up and align equipment for safe operation
- Review job requirements before execution
- Stage tools and materials efficiently
- Support daily field operations and crew activities
- Complete job reports and documentation
- Inspect and maintain equipment
- Maintain clean and safe work areas
- Communicate with team members and clients
- Assist with general duties as required
- Follow all company and site-specific safety requirements
- Use appropriate PPE at all times
- Identify hazards and support mitigation efforts
- Promote safe work practices
- Participate in safety meetings and reporting
