The Texas Institute for Electronics (TIE) is a University of Texas at Austin-supported semiconductor consortium of state and local government, pre-eminent defense electronics and semiconductor companies, national labs and nationally recognized academic institutions. Our mission is to develop and execute a state-of-the-art 3D Heterogenous Integration manufacturing technology roadmap, and to provide critical pilot manufacturing capabilities to address national security needs and catalyze domestic economic growth. Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in mechanical engineering, mechatronics, robotics, controls, precision systems engineering, or other relevant discipline.
  • Prior experience with standard aspects of equipment development, including CAD software, and modeling and simulation software.
  • Goal-oriented and demonstrated ability to prioritize and multitask.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Ability to work well in teams.
  • Must be eligible to work in the United States on a full-time basis for any employer without sponsorship.

Nice To Haves

  • Three years of relevant experience in mechanical engineering, mechatronics, robotics, controls, precision systems engineering, or other relevant disciplines.
  • Advanced degree in mechanical engineering, mechatronics, robotics, controls, precision systems engineering, or other relevant disciplines.
  • Prior experience in nanofabrication, precision machine design, mechatronics, systems and controls, instrumentation, or optical systems design.
  • Experience working in a research or start-up environment.

Responsibilities

  • Designs, fabricates, assembles and tests equipment systems.
  • Creates and maintains up-to-date CADs of equipment systems.
  • Assists with researching and procuring various equipment sub-systems.
  • Compiles reports on costs and inventory levels.
  • Other duties as assigned
