Mechanical Systems Engineer

Teledyne Technologies IncorporatedHuntsville, AL

About The Position

The Systems / Mechanical Engineer will serve as a technical lead and subject matter expert supporting the evaluation, definition, design, manufacture, and verification of complex mechanical systems, including nuclear and other high‑consequence applications. This role supports both commercial and U.S. Government customers and emphasizes end‑to‑end lifecycle execution—from requirements development through manufacture, test, and validation. The position includes responsibilities in systems engineering, mechanical design, thermal and structural analysis, engineering trade studies, subsystem integration, and close collaboration with manufacturing and quality organizations. The engineer will employ Model‑Based Systems Engineering (MBSE) as a disciplined approach to capturing, decomposing, and managing requirements, defining system architectures and interfaces, and maintaining end‑to‑end traceability across the product lifecycle. The engineer will develop, manage, and decompose system and subsystem requirements; establish verification and validation requirements using Test, Analysis, Demonstration, and Inspection (TADI) methods; and prepare design and procurement specifications. The role also includes preparing technical presentations; conducting system requirements reviews, design reviews, manufacturing readiness reviews, and test readiness reviews; and briefing customers, senior and mid‑level leadership, and cross‑functional stakeholders. The successful candidate will be capable of clearly communicating technical concepts and program status to engineering, manufacturing, test, quality assurance, and business office personnel, and of presenting well‑reasoned technical recommendations to internal and external stakeholders.
