The company prioritizes the safety, security, and satisfaction of its employees. We are hiring a Mechanical Superintendent to join our Capital Projects team in Houston, TX. This role is responsible for scheduling, coordinating, and supervising maintenance and construction workers, providing on-site administrative and technical management. The position is non-exempt and reports to the Site Manager or Project Manager. The Superintendent establishes procedures for specific goals, with results being reviewed, and develops procedures within policy guidelines.

Requirements

  • High school or equivalent
  • 10 plus years of dirt work experience
  • Valid driver's license
  • Experience operating heavy yellow iron equipment (e.g., Excavators, Dozers, Off-road truck, etc.)
  • Leadership capabilities/qualities
  • Experience managing people and crew
  • Strong safety performance
  • Communication skills
  • Thorough knowledge of all aspects of construction
  • Basic knowledge of all crafts
  • Advanced knowledge of key crafts onsite, i.e., mechanical skills, soft skills, planning and safety
  • Highly developed leadership and mentor skills
  • Post offer drug / alcohol screen, physical evaluation, and signed acceptance of the Turner Industries Drug, Alcohol and Contraband Policy

Nice To Haves

  • Landfill cell construction and closure experience is preferred
  • TWIC is preferred but not required
  • Preferred Turner Leadership Training

Responsibilities

  • Supervises total maintenance and/or construction effort to ensure project is constructed and/or maintained in accordance with design, budget, and schedule.
  • Plans, coordinates, and supervises on-site functions including scheduling, engineering, and material control.
  • Provides technical assistance, such as interpretation of drawings, as required.
  • Assists project management in developing and implementing project procedures and standards.
  • Ensures all on-site personnel comply with project procedures, safety program requirements, work rules, and company standards.
  • Creates new policies and procedures or updates existing policies with plant or project management approvals.
  • Documents all violations, notifies project management, and recommends/implements corrective actions as required.
  • Assumes responsibility for employee productivity, efficient use of materials and equipment, and contractual performance.
  • Interprets company policies to workers and enforces safety regulations.
  • Analyzes and resolves work-related problems.
  • Establishes and adjusts work sequences to meet construction schedule, using knowledge of equipment capacities and assigned personnel.
  • Performs additional assignments per supervisor's direction.
  • Comply with company and client job site safety requirements.
  • Must not pose a direct threat to the health or safety of others in the workplace.
