About The Position

The Mechanical Superintendent is responsible for supervising craft employees assigned to a particular construction discipline work areas and supporting the estimating team with estimates. This role actively supports the Company’s commitment to safety and its “Core Values,” representing the Company at all times with high moral standards while adhering to the Company’s “Code of Business Conduct and Ethics.” The superintendent plans and supervises work activities, determining the method of construction, safety procedures and requirements, manpower levels, material quantities, equipment, temporary power sources, and work schedule, while also documenting actual hours worked. They oversee all precision of rotating and static equipment, coordinate assigned work with different crafts, company departments, and/or other contractors, and maintain liaison with the safety department, engineering, estimating, and planning to ensure work complies with safety policies, drawings, specifications, and schedules. The role assists in resolving construction problems and safety issues, supports with estimates and proposal development, conducts accident investigations with the safety department, and maintains communication with the HR Department to resolve issues of requisitioning required manpower. Additionally, the Mechanical Superintendent monitors craft compliance with the project safety program requirements, documents and ensures corrective measures are implemented, and maintains liaison with other departments (Material Control, Purchasing, Quality Control, and Engineering) to ensure all required materials, equipment, inspections, etc., support craft activities and the project schedule. They conduct field safety audits as required and maintain a complete understanding of the Corporate Safety Manual and requirements. Additional responsibilities may be assigned as directed.

Requirements

  • 6+ years’ experience in similar facility, including construction technology, methods, equipment, tools, and work procedures
  • 1+ years’ experience supervising craft employees.
  • 4-year engineering degree or equivalent combination of technical training and experience.
  • Advanced understanding of construction scheduling cost control.
  • Ability to supervise large groups.
  • Demonstrated ability to apply innovative and effective management techniques to maximize performance.
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills
  • Good computer skills including MS Word and Excel.
  • Must be able to conduct job walks and document thorough, accurate observations.
  • Ability to estimate tasks and work in excel spreadsheets.
  • Applicants must be currently authorized to work in the United States on a full-time basis.
