The Mechanical Superintendent oversees the day-to-day activities of crews on assigned commercial construction projects. The role guides crews in budgeting and scheduling and ensures job quality and customer satisfaction at each project stage. It also builds relationships with clients, customers, and vendors to support a positive work environment. In addition to supervisory responsibilities, this is a working superintendent position that performs a wide range of skilled construction tasks. The superintendent supervises field crews, subcontractors, and craft activities; coordinates construction methods, staffing, materials, equipment, mechanical and plumbing resources, scheduling, and documentation; and coordinates work across crafts, departments, and other contractors. The role liaises with engineering, estimating, and project teams to meet drawing, specification, and schedule requirements, and works with Quality Control and Engineering to coordinate materials, equipment, inspections, and craft support. It also addresses construction issues, monitors productivity and safety compliance, and documents and implements corrective actions. The position may require reporting to multiple job sites and travel, typically not overnight. Work may take place indoors or outdoors in varying temperatures and weather, areas with moderate or high noise, dusty or fume-exposed areas, confined spaces, or at heights. The role routinely uses construction equipment, heavy machinery, hand tools, and power tools, and may involve climbing, working aloft, bending, pulling, reaching overhead, prolonged standing or walking, and lifting up to 50 pounds.
