About The Position
The role of the Mechanical Subject Matter Expert (SME) is the foremost technical leader on HVAC and other fluid systems for their site. SMEs serve as mentors to Facilities and Commissioning Engineers in the field and classroom. This role is hands-on within critical environments.
Requirements
- Possesses 8 Years experience in a mechanical role in a mission critical environment or ABET-accredited bachelor’s degree in engineering or engineering technology with 4 years of experience
- Demonstrated comprehensive experience performing mechanical operations, maintenance, troubleshooting, and repairs
- Possesses the ability to interpret schematics and technical drawings
- Possesses working knowledge of electrical controls, and fire suppression/alarm systems associate with mission critical environments
- Possesses familiarity with brazing, grinding, and refrigerant work
- Demonstrated experience working in a collaborative multi-disciplined environment
- Possesses strong proficiency with Microsoft Office suite
- Willings to grow personal development and technical qualifications
Nice To Haves
- ABET-accredited bachelor’s degree in engineering or engineering technology
- Master HVAC license
- Universal Section 608 Technician Certification
- Chiller, CRAH, RTU, DOAS, split system, and diesel generator certifications issued by the OEM
- Data Center Certified Associate (DCCA or Certified Mission Critical Operator (CMCO) credentialed
- Possesses familiarity with NFPA standards
- Possesses familiarity with ASHRAE standards
- Possess familiarity with the International Mechanical Code
- Background in the data center industry
Responsibilities
- Optimizes the reliability and performance of the mechanical systems within data centers
- Enhances team ability to operate, maintain, and repair mechanical systems
- Oversees the preparation, execution, and quality control of all work on mechanical systems
- Develops and maintains operating procedures (SOP/MOP/EOP)
- Leads the root cause analysis (RCA) process for mechanical system events, faults, and issues
- Manages the vendor relationships which provide support for mechanical systems
- Train facility engineers on mechanical system fundamentals during the initial qualification process
- Delivers formal classroom training on mechanical systems for the data center operations team
- Fosters strong team culture
- 100% completion of required Talent LMS based training courses as assigned
