About The Position

The Landing Systems division is seeking a Mechanical Repair Technician responsible for assembling and testing basic and major Landing Gear components for various types of narrow and wide body aircraft, prior to being delivered to the Customer. This position is 100% onsite at our Opa Locka (Miami), FL facility. The work shift is Second Shift, from 2:45 pm to 11:15 pm, Monday through Friday, with overtime as business needs determine. Training will take place for 4-8 weeks on First Shift, 5:45 am - 2:15 pm, Monday – Friday.

Requirements

  • HS diploma (or equivalent, e.g. G.E.D. in the US) or vocational/technical education in a related discipline
  • Ability to read and interpret blueprints and overhaul manuals for assembly purposes
  • Ability to use all necessary measuring tools such as: micrometers, calipers, height gage, hydraulic gages, etc. with proficiency
  • Ability to operate hand tools, electrical pneumatic, hydraulic and test equipment
  • Basic computer skills

Nice To Haves

  • 2 years of experience in Landing Gear or 3 years of general aviation experience
  • Experience with SAP
  • Experience in honing or turret lathe operation
  • Continuous Improvement training ACE/CORE

Responsibilities

  • Install bushings, bearings, sleeves, and metal shims on all aircraft programs according to the overhaul manual specifications, using machinery and hydraulic presses
  • Utilize close tolerance measuring instruments to assure compliance with CMM specifications
  • Operate honing machinery and devices, including mill machinery for swaging of bearings
  • Perform final inspection and stocking of bushings
  • Train employees on all required processes within the department, and lead the team and operations in the department in the absence of the Group Leader when required
  • Execute bush bore functions utilizing light machining (Lathe/bush work)
