About The Position

The Mechanical Reliability Engineer is responsible for supporting plant reliability and mechanical integrity with technical expertise for preventive maintenance and mechanical reliability and mechanical integrity activities for critical plant equipment, including fixed assets (tanks, pressure vessels and piping) and rotating machinery.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in mechanical engineering or related degree
  • 2 to 5 years of relevant experience in plant reliability and/or maintenance experience
  • Ability to use influencing skills to accomplish goals and objectives
  • Ability to work effectively with individuals at all levels of an organization
  • Ability to work in a team environment
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills
  • Strong computer skills

Nice To Haves

  • Six Sigma Certified preferred
  • Experience with SAP a plus

Responsibilities

  • Work with the Maintenance Manager to provide technical support to cross functional teams.
  • Determine the function, capability, functional failure modes, probability of failure, impact severity and acceptable risk for assets to define the right maintenance requirements to eliminate functional failures and their effects
  • Provide support to the reliability program that includes predictive and preventive maintenance, operability, maintainability, reparability, etc. using computer data management systems.
  • Work with the operations and maintenance teams to establish preventive maintenance frequencies.
  • Participate in site health, environmental, PSM and safety activities.
  • Develop Reliability Control Plans for critical equipment and resolve resulting issues.
  • Aid in the preparation of sites audits on Process Safety Management (PSM), insurance risk assessments, reliability programs etc.
  • Communicate progress and results to cross functional groups.
  • Develop training programs and administer those programs.
  • Provide support to other facilities within AdvanSix on occasion.
  • Report on status of compliance, department goals and project.
  • Gather, interpret and manage ongoing metrics related to plant reliability life cycle management.
  • Ensure the safe and reliable operation of rotating equipment such as pumps, compressors and cooling towers.
  • Coach site personnel in the reliability work processes to ensure continued alignment.
  • Propose replacement projects based on asset health and conditions for the respective areas of responsibility.
  • Provide technical support to the capital group on improvement and replacement projects.
  • Provides technical support to operations and maintenance teams.
  • Works with operations to perform analyses of assets including asset utilization, overall equipment effectiveness, remaining useful life, other parameters that define operating condition, reliability and costs of assets
  • Lead a cross functional team on a periodic basis to analyze MTBF of equipment and lead solution development.
  • Participate in lean activities to support the plant.
  • Work with outside vendors and industry experts to advance continuous improvement activities.
  • Support the implementation of the plant reliability program that includes predictive and preventive maintenance.
  • Ability to perform outdoors in adverse weather conditions (cold, hot, humid, rain, snow, etc.).
