About The Position

SQA Services is seeking an experienced Mechanical Quality Inspector to perform incoming and in-process inspections of precision mechanical components and assemblies. The role verifies that components and assemblies meet engineering specifications, quality standards, and workmanship requirements while supporting nonconformance resolution and continuous improvement initiatives. The inspector works with Quality, Engineering, Supply Chain, and other cross-functional teams, and records inspection results and material transactions in an Enterprise Resource Planning (ERP) system.

Requirements

• High school diploma or GED.
• At least 2 years of Quality Assurance experience.
• At least 2 years of mechanical inspection experience.
• At least 2 years of experience applying ASME GD&T standards during inspections.
• Experience using precision measuring tools, such as calipers, micrometers, and dial indicators.
• Experience operating precision measurement equipment.
• At least 2 years of experience reading and interpreting engineering drawings, blueprints, and work instructions.
• Basic proficiency in Microsoft Office and computer-based systems.
• Ability to frequently lift 20 lbs. or more.
• Ability to stand, move, reach, bend, and stoop for extended periods while handling products.
• Must be ITAR compliant and willing to undergo a background check.

Responsibilities

• Perform incoming and in-process inspections of machined components, composite panels, solar array panels, propulsion tanks, and precision mechanical assemblies.
• Read and interpret engineering drawings, blueprints, specifications, work instructions, and GD&T requirements.
• Use precision measurement tools and equipment, including calipers, micrometers, height gauges, pin gauges, thread gauges, depth gauges, dial indicators, surface plates, and Romer/Faro arms.
• Document inspection results, identify nonconforming materials, and coordinate resolutions with Quality, Engineering, and Supply Chain teams.
• Support Material Review Board (MRB) activities and nonconformance reporting (NCR) processes.
• Review and maintain vendor documentation, including Certificates of Conformance, material certifications, test reports, and First Article Inspection (FAI) reports.
• Ensure inspection and measurement equipment is properly calibrated, maintained, and operated within established tolerances.
• Record inspection results and process material transactions in the Enterprise Resource Planning (ERP) system.
• Collaborate with cross-functional teams to resolve quality issues and support continuous improvement initiatives.
