The Mechanical Project Engineer (PE - Mech) supports the execution of mechanical systems on hyperscale data center projects under the FTI / Excellerate delivery model. This role focuses on coordination, documentation, and technical support for complex cooling systems, prefabricated assemblies, and failure-domain-based infrastructure, ensuring safe, high-quality, and on-schedule project delivery. Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering, Construction Management, or related field (or equivalent experience).
  • 2 to 6+ years of construction or engineering experience, ideally with a focus on mechanical systems.
  • Foundational understanding of HVAC and piping systems.
  • Familiarity with construction coordination processes.
  • Familiarity with document control and coordination platforms (ACC, Procore, etc.).

Nice To Haves

  • Experience working on mission-critical or data center projects is preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Support Mechanical Project Manager and site leadership in day-to-day execution of mechanical scope.
  • Coordinate with superintendents, trade partners and project controls to track progress and resolve issues.
  • Assist in development and tracking of detailed work plans, schedules and resource needs.
  • Monitor installation progress and identify risks impacting schedule, cost and quality.
  • Prepare, track, and manage RFIs to resolve design and field issues.
  • Coordinate and review mechanical submittents, shop drawings, and equipment data to ensure compliance with project requirements.
  • Maintain submittal logs and ensure processing aligned with installation schedules.
  • Support change management processes tied to schedule, RFIs and design updates.
  • Support installation and coordination of: MES & TWMUs, FSHAC & MSA Piping interconnections, Mechanical system interfaces.
  • Assist with ensuring systems are installed per Takt team requirements and timing.
  • Coordinate with controls teams for system integration and commissioning readiness.
  • Support coordination of Excellerate prefabrication scope, including fabrication tracking, delivery, and site integration.
  • Assist in tracking of mechanical equipment and materials.
  • Maintain delivery paperwork, inspection reports and invoicing of mechanical MOFE equipment.
  • Support field teams in resolving technical issues, design clarifications, and installation challenges.
  • Participate in site walks, inspections, and quality verification efforts.
  • Assist with tracking punch list items and ensuring closure prior to turnover.
  • Help ensure installations meet design specifications and quality standards.
  • Assist with updating and maintaining project schedules and progress reports.
  • Participate in coordination meetings and communicate issues, risks, and progress updates.
  • Maintain clear communication between field teams, design teams, and project leadership.
  • Promote and enforce a strong safety culture across all mechanical activities.
  • Ensure compliance with company policies, site safety plans, and regulatory requirements.
  • Support implementation of project-specific safety plans and procedures.
  • Monitor field activities and report safety concerns.
  • Assist with system startup, testing, and commissioning activities.
  • Support documentation, as-builts, and turnover packages.
  • Performs other related duties as required and assigned.
