About The Position

The Mechanical Project Engineer II reports to the Plant Engineering Manager and is responsible for providing mechanical engineering design and project management at Resonac Inc.'s Electrode manufacturing facility. This role involves project management and engineering for capital projects, including defining requirements, specification, design, and installation. It also covers major equipment modifications for reliability improvement, equipment rebuilds, and provides limited technical support to the plant Maintenance Department.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in mechanical engineering (required).
  • 5+ years of engineering design and/or project management experience.
  • Familiarity with PMBOK or similar methodologies.
  • Proficient in AutoCAD, Inventor, MS Office, and SAP.
  • Strong communication, analytical, and troubleshooting skills.

Nice To Haves

  • Heavy industry and hydraulics/pneumatics/material handling or thermal oil experience preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Manage all phases of engineering projects from project request to project closure.
  • Lead project team in the development of a solution to a project request.
  • Design solutions & produce drawings based upon scope of work & interaction with end-user.
  • Formulate scope/specifications for the purchase of capital and non-capital equipment and contract labor.
  • Develop and utilize project risk management plans.
  • Prepare appropriation requests for capital equipment purchases & major repairs.
  • Track/forecast project schedule (Gantt charts) and costs.
  • Accomplish project work with vendors & contractors through professional and effective use of established departmental and divisional purchasing procedures (bid inquiry, bid procedure, liaison, and contract specifications).
  • Develop Bills of Material & recommendations for spares for all project equipment.
  • Provide training to end-users on changes to existing equipment and new installations.
  • Provide recommendations for Maintenance on PM activities for new equipment.
  • Insist on the highest expectations of quality, safety, and housekeeping from Contractors on jobs for which you are PPR.
  • Support focused improvement efforts through improvements to maintenance practices and design changes to existing equipment.
  • Support Operations in assigned plant areas by staying engaged in equipment reliability and knowledge of recurring malfunctions.
  • Provide necessary updating drawings created by modifications to equipment, errors, etc.
  • Assures compliance with Company & Plant policies, health and safety standards, environmental regulations, hazardous waste, & good housekeeping practices.
