We are looking for an experienced and self-motivated individual to fill the position of Mechanical Planner with our Chemical Manufacturing facility located in Convent, Louisiana.

Requirements

  • High School diploma or completed GED
  • Minimum of 5 yrs experience as a maintenance journeyman in millwright, pipefitting, or welding application.
  • Minimum of 3 yrs experience in detail planning in a computerized maintenance system, SAP or other.
  • Must be willing to work non-standard schedules during outages, emergencies or shutdowns.
  • Must be able to traverse irregular surfaces, climb ladders/stairs, frequent plant areas, respond to visual and audible alarms, communicate orally, and wear personal protective equipment.
  • Must effectively utilize written and oral communication skills to maintain professional relationships with suppliers, as materials and services are procured on a regular basis.

Responsibilities

  • Maintain protection of the environment & the health & safety of our employees, customers, & the communities in which we operate and/or transport our products, as our highest priority. This includes full support of, and participation in, all Corporate & Plant policies, procedures, applicable programs, & goals.
  • Plan work & set schedules for Oxy general crafts technicians & contractors in all mechanical crafts, including millwright, pipefitter, welder, scaffolding, painter, & insulator.
  • Work with Maintenance/Process Supervisors to determine work scope, priority, & timing.
  • Establish requirements for labor, tools, material, & equipment.
  • Backfill for Maintenance Supervisors as required (vac., outages, etc.).
  • Procure equipment, material & services per plant specifications & procedures, using SAP to initiate, process, & track purchase requisitions & deliveries.
  • Stage material.
  • Maintain good time & cost estimates & cost control.
  • Track area planning backlog & work orders ensuring SAP data is current & accurate.
  • Create & maintain PM’s for equipment, as needed.
  • Create & maintain repetitive job plans.
  • Create/maintain BOM’s for all major pieces of equipment in assigned areas of the plant.
  • Insure Stores accuracy by evaluating requirements, specifications, & quantities.
  • Coordinate & assist in monitoring fieldwork being performed by non-resident contractors.
  • Evaluate non-resident contractor performance, including quality & safety performance.
  • Assist engineers with plant projects, technical details, & specifications.
  • Make recommendations on projects such as timeline, labor requirements, work scope, & material.
  • Develop & prepare maintenance projects for AFE submittal.
  • Follow the Management of Change Process to document & implement plant PSM changes.
  • Continually look for opportunities to improve plant reliability & to reduce plant costs.
  • Support and maintain Responsible Care Programs through continued commitment to the overall HESS efforts of the site.
  • Insure that work activities comply with all applicable health, environmental, safety, process safety, and security laws and regulations.
  • Insure compliance with all ISO requirements.
  • Provide on-site, off-hours, call-out support, as needed, to cover maintenance issues, direct personnel, & obtain materials or services.
  • Attend/participate in meetings.
