Mechanical Planner - St. Gabriel, LA
About The Position
Turner Industries Group, LLC is hiring a Mechanical Planner to join its Project Controls Team in Baton Rouge, Louisiana, with placement at a jobsite in St. Gabriel, Louisiana, or the surrounding area. The role supports industrial maintenance, turnarounds, small capital projects, or a combination of these. Relevant planning experience with equipment, piping, structural steel, and light civil is needed. The planner may walk down job scope requests, estimate labor hours across multiple disciplines, develop work plans, and create job plan packages. The role also includes reviewing specifications and drawings to establish work scope and estimate requirements; preparing estimates and takeoffs for labor, materials, outside services, and subcontractors; incorporating historical data into resource and man-hour estimates; estimating extras, change orders, and discovery work; and maintaining working files and estimate backups. The position is with a company that describes itself as a diversified industrial contractor serving petrochemical, refining, energy, pulp and paper, and related industries. Final compensation depends on the individual’s qualifications and experience. Benefits depend on employment status.
Requirements
- Two years of field planning experience in any combination of industrial maintenance, capital projects, outages, and/or turnarounds.
- Four years of jobsite mechanical craft experience, or a bachelor’s degree in Construction Management, Engineering, or a related curriculum.
- Strong background in piping and/or structural work scope planning.
- Ability to estimate material and labor quantities from industrial construction drawings for multiple craft disciplines.
- Proficiency with computer-based Microsoft programs, including Word, Excel, and PowerPoint.
- Must have or meet the requirements to receive a TWIC card.
Nice To Haves
- NCCER certification, craft journeyman status, or foreman experience in industrial construction, maintenance, or turnarounds.
- Experience with planning software applications; familiarity with Turner Applications WinTake®, QuickPlan®, and Win PCS® is an additional benefit.
- Experience with QuickPlan, SAP, Excel, and Google.
