About The Position

The Estimator is responsible for performing detailed quantity takeoffs and material assessments for mechanical piping systems across commercial projects. This role supports preconstruction and estimating efforts by delivering accurate, timely, and well-documented takeoff data to ensure competitive and profitable bids.

Requirements

Strong understanding of mechanical piping systems and construction methods
Ability to read and interpret construction drawings and specifications
Strong attention to detail and organizational skills
Proficient in Microsoft Excel
Proficiency in takeoff and PDF markup software
Background working with mechanical contractors or in preconstruction
Knowledge of labor productivity factors and installation methods
Field experience in mechanical or piping installation
High School diploma or GED required.
Knowledge of the construction industry and contract documentation.
Working knowledge of state and city regulations and guidelines.
Must demonstrate integrity, honesty, professionalism and commitment to company values.
Must be self-motivated and able to work efficiently in a fast-paced environment.
Must have excellent organizational, communication, strategic, technical, analytical, problem solving, and multi-tasking skills.
Must have high standards of quality with attention to detail.

Responsibilities

Perform detailed quantity takeoffs of mechanical piping systems, including: Hydronic piping, HVAC piping systems, Process piping and specialty systems (as applicable)
Review construction drawings, specifications, narratives, and addenda to identify scope requirements.
Analyze plans to determine material quantities such as equipment, pipe, fittings, valves, insulation, supports, and specialties.
Utilize digital takeoff software (Bluebeam and Trimble) to complete accurate measurements.
Coordinate with estimators from other trades, project managers, and engineers to clarify scope gaps or discrepancies.
Provide organized takeoff summaries and backup documentation for estimate reviews.
Assist in developing and maintaining unit pricing databases and labor assumptions.
Track drawing revisions and update takeoffs as project documents evolve.
Identify value engineering opportunities and constructability issues during the takeoff process.
