About The Position

MGC Contractors, Inc. is a 100% Employee Owned Corporation specializing in water and wastewater general contracting across Arizona, Texas, Utah, and New Mexico. They are seeking a Mechanical Pipefitter to join their Utah Division in the Provo area. This role involves reviewing blueprints, laying out piping and equipment, monitoring safety and project labor, understanding equipment installation processes, and possessing knowledge of crane rigging, signaling, various piping materials, and equipment operations.

Requirements

• High School Diploma or GED required
• At least Five (5) years of experience installing piping and equipment on multi-functional water/wastewater projects required
• Ability to communicate verbally with others on site, in person and over the telephone
• Ability to read printed materials, signs and directions
• Stamina to maintain attention despite interruptions
• Ability to lift, push, pull, carry, handle or feel objects, supplies, tools, machinery and/or controls weighing up to 50 pounds
• Ability to reach with hands and arms
• Ability to climb stairs and/or ladders
• Ability to balance, bend, stoop, kneel, crouch, crawl, lift overhead, traverse around or otherwise position one's self around the required work
• Ability to navigate and perform activities on various construction sites in a safe manner
• Passing a pre-employment drug screen is required

Responsibilities

• Review and comprehend blueprint drawings and specifications
• Lay out large and small diameter mechanical piping, and equipment such as Clarifier, Filters, Chemical Rooms, Aeration Basin System, Influent Fine Screens, and Pumps
• Monitor safety for all on-site personnel and subcontractors
• Monitor project labor
• Understand the process of equipment installation, alignment, and anchoring
• Knowledge of crane rigging and signaling
• Knowledge of different types of process piping materials and connections, PVC, Steel, SST, and DIP
• Knowledge of forklift, scissor lift and boom lift operations
• Perform any and all other duties assigned
