As a Mechanical Packaging Specialist, you’ll provide technical assistance in packaging processes. With a focus on mechanical packaging technology, you’ll offer expert technical assistance and work independently on larger, moderately complex projects, from concept development.

Requirements

Bachelor's Degree in a mechanical engineering, packaging engineering, or related field
3+ years of experience in mechanical packaging engineering experience in pet food, CPG, manufacturing, or industrial environments
OR
High School Diploma/GED
7+ years of mechanical packaging experience or relevant internship experience in pet food, CPG, manufacturing, or industrial environments
Must be able to travel 50-60% of the time

Responsibilities

Design and develop packaging systems to ensure reliability and innovation that meet operational objectives with a direct impact on department results.
Conduct feasibility studies and analyze package performance through testing and simulations, drawing from prior experience to solve problems and improve effectiveness.
Collaborate with Research and Development (R&D), production, and marketing teams to align packaging designs with product specifications and branding requirements.
Evaluate packaging materials and processes, emphasizing sustainability and operational efficiency, including life cycle assessments.
Implement cost-reduction initiatives by assessing existing packaging designs and identifying opportunities for enhancements.
Provide technical support and troubleshoot packaging machinery and processes within manufacturing facilities, influencing internal contacts through clear communication of facts, policies, and practices.
