As a Mechanical Packaging Specialist, you’ll provide technical assistance in packaging processes. With a focus on mechanical packaging technology, you’ll offer expert technical assistance and work independently on larger, moderately complex projects, from concept development.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's Degree in a mechanical engineering, packaging engineering, or related field
  • 3+ years of experience in mechanical packaging engineering experience in pet food, CPG, manufacturing, or industrial environments
  • OR
  • High School Diploma/GED
  • 7+ years of mechanical packaging experience or relevant internship experience in pet food, CPG, manufacturing, or industrial environments
  • Must be able to travel 50-60% of the time

Responsibilities

  • Design and develop packaging systems to ensure reliability and innovation that meet operational objectives with a direct impact on department results.
  • Conduct feasibility studies and analyze package performance through testing and simulations, drawing from prior experience to solve problems and improve effectiveness.
  • Collaborate with Research and Development (R&D), production, and marketing teams to align packaging designs with product specifications and branding requirements.
  • Evaluate packaging materials and processes, emphasizing sustainability and operational efficiency, including life cycle assessments.
  • Implement cost-reduction initiatives by assessing existing packaging designs and identifying opportunities for enhancements.
  • Provide technical support and troubleshoot packaging machinery and processes within manufacturing facilities, influencing internal contacts through clear communication of facts, policies, and practices.
