About The Position

Arcadis is seeking a detail oriented, well organized, dependable entry-level Mechanical or Environmental Engineer to join our Melville, NY office. This position includes working as part of the engineering team in our Melville NY office to support environmental engineering services for our local clients focusing primarily on the design and operational support of environmental remediation systems for soil and groundwater. Typical assignments include design support, field data gathering, collecting air and water samples, and report writing. As part of the engineering team, this position provides support to senior engineers to deliver high value consulting services to help solve some of our client’s most challenging environmental concerns. The Melville Office Engineering Team is part of the Arcadis Resilience Environment team. As part of our Resilience Environment team, you’ll help improve quality of life. You will work alongside Senior Scientists/Engineers, Project/Program Managers, and Technical Experts on various activities in support of diverse environmental assessment and remediation projects. This opportunity is also to support our growing emerging contaminant project portfolio and remediation capabilities.

Requirements

  • BS in Environmental, Civil, Mechanical, or related engineering field
  • Comfortable balancing both field and office responsibilities
  • Strong experience in environmental investigations and compliance
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office
  • Effective communication skills
  • Strong commitment to health and safety
  • Strong team-building and organizational abilities

Responsibilities

  • Support environmental engineering services for local clients, focusing on the design and operational support of environmental remediation systems for soil and groundwater.
  • Participate in design support, field data gathering, collecting air and water samples, and report writing.
  • Provide support to senior engineers to deliver high value consulting services.
  • Work alongside Senior Scientists/Engineers, Project/Program Managers, and Technical Experts on various activities in support of diverse environmental assessment and remediation projects.
  • Support growing emerging contaminant project portfolio and remediation capabilities.
  • Provide program support for a diverse portfolio of projects underway, catering to both the US Federal Government and industrial clients.
  • Actively participate in field investigations, sampling activities, pilot programs, and full-scale remedial efforts.
  • Engage in face-to-face meetings with clients, technical teams, and other stakeholders.
  • Understand and follow written work plans/engineering design drawings.
  • Perform site inspections and remedial system operations and maintenance activities.
  • Provide oversight of subcontractors.
  • Manage data (compilation, manipulation, evaluation, and presentation of data) and perform data interpretation including calculations.
  • Write and prepare reports, work plans, letters, and memoranda.
  • Coordinate with project managers and senior engineering staff.
