About The Position

The Mechanical Maintenance Engineer IV ensures maintenance execution efficiency. They will also support the Maintenance Execution organization and the Asset Owner with technical knowledge. This role involves monitoring daily maintenance activities, ensuring compliance with safety and engineering standards, and managing the backlog of work orders in SAP. The engineer will act as a Subject Matter Expert for equipment and repair methods, evaluate equipment failures, and provide information for defect elimination. They will also be responsible for monthly reporting on major jobs, repairs, costs, achievements, and safety incidents. Collaboration with Asset Engineers is key to improving asset performance and optimizing asset strategy. The role requires making decisions within designated assignments and producing anticipated results with supervision.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s in Mechanical or Chemical Engineering or related degree with at least 3 years’ experience OR Master’s in Mechanical or Chemical Engineering or related degree with at least 2 years’ experience
  • The eligibility to apply for and obtain a Transportation Worker Identification Credential (TWIC) within a reasonable timeframe
  • Maturing knowledge of rotating and static equipment used in chemical processing
  • Maturing analytical and problem-solving skills. Awareness of different troubleshooting methodologies.
  • Understanding of general Maintenance Procedures/Work processes (i.e. Planning, Scheduling, Execution)
  • Working knowledge of repair methods and techniques, and best practices (including but not limited to vessel and pipe repair, pump maintenance, lifting techniques, and welding)
  • Ability to ensure application and compliance with HSEQ policies and procedures while performing engineering activities.
  • Good Oral and Written Communication Skills.
  • Ability to communicate effectively within the organization and with site management
  • Strong interpersonal skills with the ability to be a productive member of a team

Nice To Haves

  • Six Sigma Green Belt Trained
  • Developing skills in work planning and management for work involving industrial chemicals (i.e. Phosgene, CO, Cl2, and NH3.)

Responsibilities

  • Monitors daily maintenance activities; ensures compliance with safety and engineering standards
  • Responsible for timely job completion as agreed on in RBWS; monitors area backlog, notifications, and work orders in SAP
  • Perform as Subject Matter Expert for equipment and repair methods. Support the planning, maintenance execution organization, and asset owners in this capacity
  • Evaluate equipment failures, and provide information to Asset Engineers for defect elimination activities. Take corrective actions when failures are deemed to be caused by maintenance processes.
  • Responsible for monthly reporting of major jobs and repairs, costs, achievements, and safety incidents
  • Closely collaborate with Asset Engineers to jointly improve the asset performance by becoming a "Learning Organization”
  • Closely collaborate with Asset Engineers in Asset Strategy optimization
  • Makes decisions with designated assignments. Produces anticipated results to business or technical goals with supervision of results. Shows proven competency in the application and decision-making in those work processes.
