About The Position

At OTC Industrial Technologies, our Mechanical Lead role combines advanced mechanical expertise with day-to-day team leadership to keep critical equipment—and our customers' operations—running. You'll work alongside the Shop Manager to guide technicians, troubleshoot complex repairs, and ensure work is completed safely and to the highest quality standards.

Requirements

  • High school diploma or GED required
  • 5+ years of hands-on rotating equipment repair experience in an industrial environment.
  • Strong knowledge of pumps and other rotating equipment, mechanical fits, tolerances, alignment, and repair practices.
  • Proficiency with precision measuring tools, including micrometers, calipers, and dial indicators.
  • Ability to read and interpret mechanical drawings, schematics, OEM manuals, and technical specifications.
  • Familiarity with applicable API, ANSI, and OEM standards.
  • Strong leadership, communication, organizational, and problem-solving skills.
  • Valid driver's license and ability to travel to customer sites as needed.
  • Ability to lift 50+ lbs. and work safely in shop and field environments, including occasional overtime or on-call work based on business needs.

Nice To Haves

  • technical school training or mechanical certification preferred
  • 1–2+ years of lead or supervisory experience preferred
  • Forklift and overhead crane experience preferred

Responsibilities

  • Support the Shop Manager in coordinating daily work and keeping the team aligned on priorities, goals, and job requirements.
  • Perform and oversee the disassembly, inspection, repair, and reassembly of pumps, compressors, turbines, gearboxes, and other rotating equipment.
  • Troubleshoot complex mechanical issues and assist with root cause analysis of equipment failures.
  • Provide technical guidance and hands-on support to technicians throughout the repair process.
  • Read and interpret technical drawings, OEM manuals, mechanical schematics, and repair specifications.
  • Verify measurements, fits, tolerances, alignment, and repair quality using precision measuring tools.
  • Ensure repair findings, measurements, tolerances, parts used, and completed work are properly documented.
  • Promote a safe, clean, and organized work environment while ensuring compliance with company and industry safety standards.
