About The Position

The Mechanical Lead is expected to ensure project assembly functions are executed properly, within budget and on time under the direction of the assembly supervisor and/or Leadman. TAS delivers innovative packaged modular systems that are engineered and manufactured in one of our Houston, TX facilities and utilized in data centers, power, and commercial/industrial utility system applications. TAS has successfully delivered and commissioned over 520 packages to over 33 countries. The company is headquartered in Houston, TX and has five ISO 9001 certified manufacturing facilities in Houston, encompassing 1.2m sq. feet with proximity to major shipping ports and interstate highways. Requirements

  • Ability to read shop drawings
  • Basic understanding of a P&ID
  • Ability to operate forklift, overhead crane and man lift
  • Project Planning and Scheduling.
  • Familiarity with Lean Manufacturing / 5S / Continuous Improvement.
  • Understanding of Mechanical Systems and Components.
  • Safety Compliance & Incident Investigation.
  • Basic Computer Literacy (MS Excel / ERP systems)
  • Team Communication and Conflict Resolution.
  • Time Management and Prioritization.
  • Basic Budgeting or Cost Awareness.
  • High school diploma
  • 2-3 years of experience in mechanical assembly in a similar environment.
  • Proven ability to interpret mechanical drawings, blueprints, and P&IDs
  • Experience using basic shop equipment (e.g., hand tools, torque wrenches, power tools)
  • Basic Computer Literacy (MS Excel / ERP systems)
  • Demonstrated ability to manage priorities and meet production schedules.
  • Capable of communicating clearly and effectively with team members, supervisors, and other departments.

Nice To Haves

  • Bilingual (English/Spanish) preferred
  • 3+ years of experience in mechanical assembly in a similar environment.

Responsibilities

  • Lead small to medium size groups
  • Train and mentor new personnel
  • Manage shop assembly activities through daily/weekly work plans
  • Maintain project status reports
  • Ensures that work is accomplished safely
  • Assists the supervisor in enforcing standards and complying with regulations
  • Track and maintain key performance indicators (KPIs)
  • Monitor budgeted labor hours
  • Ensure zero recordable safety incidents through proactive planning and continuous improvement initiatives
  • Any other duties as assigned by TAS.
