SpaceX is hiring a Mechanical Integration & Test Engineer for Starshield user products, including user terminals, ground stations, and gateways. The role involves generating and understanding manufacturing and test procedures. Engineers need working knowledge of design, schematics, operations, manufacturing, and testing, as well as engineering intuition and critical thinking. They must be comfortable working with ambiguous requirements and minimal oversight, across a variety of work centers and interdepartmental development projects. The team’s goal is to ensure satellites and customers achieve their mission. The position is hands-on and may require travel to other SpaceX sites, up to 10%. Employees must be willing to work extended hours or weekends as needed to meet mission-critical deadlines. Work may involve standing for up to four hours at a time and working alongside technicians, including climbing ladders, stooping, bending, crawling, and working in tight spaces. Employees assigned to sensitive missions may be subject to pre-employment drug testing and random drug and alcohol testing. The listed annual pay ranges are $100,000–$117,500 for Integration & Test Engineer Level I and $115,000–$140,000 for Level II. Actual level and base salary depend on job-related knowledge and skills, education, and experience. Employees with an active clearance receive a 10% differential, up to an additional $20,000 annually, once officially briefed into a classified program. Total rewards may also include long-term incentives in the form of company stock or long-term cash awards, potential discretionary bonuses, and the ability to purchase additional stock at a discount through an Employee Stock Purchase Plan. Benefits include medical, vision, and dental coverage; a 401(k) retirement plan; short- and long-term disability insurance; life insurance; paid parental leave; discounts and perks; up to three weeks of paid vacation; at least 10 paid holidays per year; and paid sick leave under company policy. Applicants must meet U.S. export-control eligibility requirements: be a U.S. citizen or national, lawful permanent resident, refugee, or asylee, or be eligible to obtain required U.S. Department of State authorizations.
