Founding Mechanical Integration Engineer - Forward Deployed

Greenlight RoboticsSan Francisco, CA
Onsite

About The Position

Greenlight Robotics is building public transit technology that makes communities more efficient, accessible, and vibrant. We are looking for a Mechanical Integration Engineer to step into a forward-deployed engineering role. Reporting directly to our Co-founder & CTO, you will design the mounts, interfaces, and connections required to integrate our product onto customer vehicles, while leading on-site deployment, customer success, and hardware/software debugging. This role serves as the crucial bridge between our customer fleets in the field and our development platform at HQ.

Requirements

  • 3+ years experience of demonstrated mechanical engineering problem solving ability.
  • Designed and shipped production parts of a real-world robotics/embedded system product.
  • Comfortable understanding problems across all aspects (mechanical, electrical, software, firmware) of a robot.
  • Ability to quickly learn and fill in knowledge gaps when presented with problems in unfamiliar technical domains.
  • Willingness to "get hands dirty" and "turn wrenches" on-site during extensive field engineering work with early transit partners.

Nice To Haves

  • Master’s in Mechanical Engineering or similar.
  • 6+ years of experience integrating multi-modal embedded sensor stacks (autonomous vehicles, EVs, drones, humanoid robots, etc.).
  • Previous experience in customer-facing technical or forward-deployed engineering roles.

Responsibilities

  • Design the mounts, interfaces, and connections required to integrate our product onto customer vehicles.
  • Lead on-site deployment, customer success, and hardware/software debugging.
  • Mechanical & electrical interface design and deployment for our product onsite at our first customer and back at HQ on our prototype platform.
  • Deliver initial product installations on customer vehicles and drive continuous improvements across mechanical, electrical, and software engineering domains.
  • Perform hands-on issue discovery, root cause analysis, and rapid solution deployment directly on live embedded hardware/software products in the field.
  • Build rollout standards and continuous integration workflows to increase product reliability and drive down hands-on engineering time for future deployments.

Benefits

  • Generous "flex days" for working from home
  • Unlimited PTO
  • Comprehensive benefits including medical, dental, vision, disability, and commuter.
  • Competitive salary
  • Ground-floor equity package.
