Mechanical Inspector 1 - Day Shift
About The Position
FM Industries is a premier manufacturing solutions provider specializing in build-to-print, precision machined components, anodizing, and engineered thermal spray coatings. We provide customers with leading-edge support from prototype to production. This position is responsible for performing precision mechanical inspection of machined parts and incoming materials to verify compliance to specification. The role ensures conformance requirements using calibrated measuring equipment and visual inspection, interpreting customer drawings and specifications, and referencing company work instructions and process travelers. Key tasks include basic blueprint reading & shop math (Trigonometry), inspecting first-off parts from manufacturing work centers, collecting measurement data for First Article Inspection (FAI) reports, and collecting and providing data required for critical part Final Inspection Reports (FIRs).
Requirements
- 0-2 years’ experience performing in-process and final inspection preferably in a machining, automotive or aerospace business.
- Ability to correctly use and interpret basic measuring tools including weight gauge, micrometer, caliper scale (linear), gauge blocks, thread gauges, and comparative standards.
- Visual inspection experience.
Nice To Haves
- Basic knowledge of GD&T preferred.
- CMM operation experience preferred.
