About The Position

This internship offers an opportunity to engage in impactful engineering work focused on manufacturing complex mechanical hardware and prototype development. The intern will support missions for space exploration, operational prototypes, and manufacturing science by assisting in the fabrication of advanced prototype, configured, and flight hardware. This involves tasks such as preparing metal additive builds, molds, composite layup, castings, and bonding assemblies. The role also includes providing input and design support for mechanical manufacturing and reviewing engineering drawings.

Requirements

  • Pursuing a Bachelor's or Master's degree in engineering.
  • Passion for fabricating complex hardware and prototypes.
  • Minimum 3.0 overall GPA on a 4.0 scale.
  • Able to obtain an Interim Secret level security clearance by start date and ultimately obtain a Secret level clearance.
  • U.S. citizenship required for security clearance eligibility.

Nice To Haves

  • Experience fabricating complex hardware.
  • Experience working in a shop environment.

Responsibilities

  • Assist in the fabrication of advanced prototype, configured, and flight hardware in areas such as composites, polymer bonding and molding, silicones processing, or metal additive manufacturing.
  • Prepare metal additive builds, polymer additive, metal, and foam molds.
  • Perform composite layup and vacuum bagging, castings, demolding, manual trim and drill operations, and bonding assemblies.
  • Provide input and design support for mechanical manufacturing.
  • Review engineering drawings and participate in internal reviews for manufacturing.
