About The Position

We are seeking an experienced Mechanical Estimator to join our growing team in the Sterling, MA area. In this role, you will be responsible for preparing accurate, competitive cost estimates for commercial and residential mechanical construction projects. Projects include HVAC systems, ductwork, pipefitting, refrigeration systems, chilled and hot water piping, and boiler piping. The ideal candidate has a strong understanding of mechanical construction, excellent analytical skills, and the ability to interpret drawings, specifications, and bid documents to produce detailed, accurate estimates. You'll work closely with project managers, engineers, vendors, subcontractors, and the sales team to develop profitable and competitive proposals.

Requirements

  • Minimum of 3 years of experience as a Mechanical Estimator, HVAC Estimator, or in a similar estimating role.
  • Strong knowledge of mechanical systems, construction methods, and industry codes.
  • Experience estimating HVAC systems, ductwork, refrigeration piping, chilled and hot water systems, and boiler piping.
  • Proficiency with Bluebeam.
  • Excellent attention to detail, organizational skills, and time management.
  • Strong communication and problem-solving abilities.

Responsibilities

  • Review project drawings, specifications, and bid documents to determine project scope and requirements.
  • Perform detailed quantity takeoffs for HVAC equipment, ductwork, piping, controls, and other mechanical systems.
  • Prepare accurate estimates for labor, materials, equipment, and subcontractor costs.
  • Solicit, review, and evaluate vendor and subcontractor pricing.
  • Identify value engineering opportunities, cost-saving solutions, and potential project risks.
  • Collaborate with project managers, engineers, and sales teams throughout the estimating and bidding process.
  • Maintain estimating databases, historical cost records, and current pricing information.
  • Assist with bid submissions, presentations, and post-bid clarifications.
  • Ensure all estimates are completed accurately and submitted on schedule.
