About The Position

The Mechanical Engineering Technician plays a key role in the validation, inspection, and technical follow-up of our products throughout their development and production lifecycle. Working closely with the engineering, quality, and procurement teams, as well as with local and international manufacturing partners, this individual participates in component inspections, testing activities, technical reporting, and the maintenance of product documentation. They actively contribute to continuous improvement initiatives to ensure the quality, compliance, and performance of our products. This position also offers a unique opportunity to contribute to the growth of our Product Development department. The successful candidate will help establish new processes, tools, and working methods in a rapidly evolving environment. With several new products scheduled for launch over the coming years, this role offers a variety of technical challenges as well as excellent opportunities for learning, innovation, and professional development.

Requirements

  • Diploma of College Studies (DEC) in Mechanical Engineering Technology, Mechanical Engineering, or a related field.
  • Minimum of 2 years of experience in a manufacturing or product development environment.
  • Experience with design, dimensional inspection, and quality control.
  • Knowledge of First Article Inspection (FAI), production inspection, and pre-shipment inspection processes.
  • Experience performing mechanical, functional, or performance testing.
  • Strong knowledge of precision measuring instruments and metrology equipment.
  • Experience writing test, validation, and inspection reports.
  • Ability to read and interpret engineering drawings and geometric dimensioning and tolerancing (GD&T).
  • Experience with SolidWorks or other CAD software.
  • High level of accuracy and attention to detail.
  • Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Strong technical writing abilities.
  • Well-organized with the ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously.
  • Team player with excellent communication skills.
  • Self-motivated, proactive, and technically curious.
  • Fluency in both French and English, both spoken and written.

Nice To Haves

  • Knowledge of Product Lifecycle Management (PLM) systems.
  • Experience with Engineering Change Order (ECO) processes.

  • Experience in a consumer product development environment.

Responsibilities

  • Perform dimensional and visual inspections of components, assemblies, prototypes, and finished products according to quality requirements.
  • Conduct incoming, pre-production, in-process, and First Article Inspections (FAI).
  • Verify part compliance with engineering drawings, specifications, and quality standards.
  • Use precision measuring instruments (calipers, micrometers, dial indicators, gauges, etc.) to take dimensional measurements and document results.
  • Prepare, conduct, and document mechanical, functional, and performance tests on prototypes and new products.
  • Compile, analyze, and present test results; prepare test, validation, and inspection reports.
  • Identify, document, and follow up on non-conformities; participate in root cause analysis and corrective actions.
  • Create and maintain technical documentation, testing procedures, and validation reports.
  • Review prototypes received from suppliers and collaborate with engineers to resolve quality or manufacturing issues.
  • Provide technical support to the customer service team by analyzing reported issues and delivering clear, customer-focused technical responses.
  • Collaborate with engineering, quality, and local and international manufacturing teams to ensure product compliance.
  • Contribute to the continuous improvement of inspection, testing, and validation methods.
  • Help maintain technical documentation within a Product Lifecycle Management (PLM) system and participate in the Engineering Change Order (ECO) process.
