About The Position

Conducts performance and reliability testing on engines, components, systems, and controls. This role involves configuring and operating data acquisition systems, analyzing data, writing computer programs for analysis, configuring engine test programs, interpreting results, and documenting collected data. The technician will also perform rig, engine, and component builds, tear downs, and inspections, as well as grading and measuring components. Fabrication of necessary piping, tubing, and brackets from prints and drawings is also a key part of the role. The position requires installing engines and instrumentation in test cells and rigs, using common tools, and designing, documenting, and executing test plans. The technician will provide input during test plan creation, prepare test reports with findings, conclusions, and recommendations, and understand and apply company and department rules. This role involves working with and training apprentices and technicians, interfacing with customers, suppliers, engineers, and other functions, and coordinating programs through planning, scheduling, ordering, and tracking. Participation in the maintenance of quality procedures, leading and participating in improvement projects, and giving presentations are also expected. The technician must know and comply with all safety policies and procedures, demonstrate confidentiality, and participate in self- and team-audits. Other miscellaneous duties as required to get the job done will also be performed.

Requirements

  • High school diploma, GED or equivalent required with Department of Labor Certification OR Associates degree from an accredited program in a related field and at least two years of relevant experience OR Bachelors degree in a related field.
  • Must pass all related testing.
  • Department of Labor Certification OR four year experience/education requirement accomplished through either Bachelors degree in related field OR associates degree in related field and at least two years of relevant experience.

Responsibilities

  • Conducts performance and reliability testing on multiple and single cylinder engines, components, systems, and controls.
  • Performs diagnosis of engines, components, systems, controls, and test cell problems and initiates appropriate resolutions.
  • Configures and operates data acquisition systems.
  • Analyzes and reviews data for appropriateness.
  • Writes computer programs to assist in analysis and data interpretation.
