No prior AI experience is required. The focus is on applying real-world domain knowledge in test setup, instrumentation, data interpretation, technical documentation, and failure diagnosis.

Requirements

  • Minimum 4 years of hands-on experience in laboratory, testing, manufacturing, production, or related mechanical engineering technology environments.
  • Associate degree or recognized trade credential in Mechanical Engineering Technology or a related technical discipline preferred.
  • Strong hands-on experience with instrumentation, sensors, data acquisition systems, and prototype testing workflows.
  • Demonstrated ability to document test procedures, results, observations, and equipment failure modes in detail.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with the ability to interpret complex test data.
  • Experience diagnosing equipment, mechanical systems, or process failures.
  • Ability to create and interpret technical documentation and datasets.
  • Familiarity with technical file formats, including CSVs, spreadsheets, PDFs, and related documentation.
  • Strong written communication skills and attention to technical detail.
  • Ability to work independently in a remote environment.
  • Ability to meet project specifications, quality standards, and weekly deliverable requirements.
  • No prior artificial intelligence experience is required.

Nice To Haves

  • Experience working with prototype development and testing.
  • Experience with laboratory or production instrumentation.
  • Familiarity with sensors, data acquisition systems, calibration procedures, and test equipment.
  • Experience creating technical troubleshooting or failure-analysis documentation.
  • Experience developing structured evaluation criteria, technical procedures, or training materials.
  • Strong ability to translate practical hands-on experience into clear, structured technical workflows.
  • Experience working on independent or remote technical projects.

Responsibilities

  • Design and author authentic technician workflow tasks that reflect real-world mechanical engineering and technician challenges.
  • Develop scenarios involving test setup, instrumentation, data collection, analysis, troubleshooting, and failure diagnosis.
  • Source, synthesize, and construct technical datasets based on realistic laboratory or production environments.
  • Work with technical materials such as test logs, calibration records, sensor outputs, measurements, and failure reports.
  • Define accurate solution pathways, including interpretation of test data and recommended diagnostic or corrective actions.
  • Develop rigorous grading rubrics containing 35 or more evaluation criteria to assess technical skills in instrumentation logic, data interpretation, troubleshooting, and failure analysis.
  • Create evaluation materials that can be consistently used by both AI systems and technical domain experts.
  • Document technical procedures, observations, test outcomes, diagnostic findings, and failure modes with a high degree of accuracy and clarity.
  • Ensure tasks and evaluation materials reflect the complexity and realism of professional mechanical engineering technician work.
  • Develop technical content that goes beyond simplified textbook examples and represents authentic workplace scenarios.
  • Review deliverables for technical accuracy, completeness, consistency, and alignment with project specifications.
  • Work independently and meet established project timelines and weekly submission requirements.
