About The Position

Supports mechanical engineering builds, installations, measurements, and test plan execution. This role involves configuring and operating data acquisition systems, analyzing data, installing engines and components in test cells or rigs, and fabricating necessary parts from prints and drawings. The specialist will diagnose engine and test cell problems, measure and record data, and perform preventative maintenance. They will execute written work requests, report on results, and support technicians and engineers. The role requires understanding and applying company guidelines, interfacing with customers and suppliers, participating in quality procedures and improvement projects, and maintaining a safe and clean workplace.

Requirements

  • High school diploma, GED or equivalent required.
  • Minimal relevant experience required.
  • School to work program experience in relevant field preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Configures and operates data acquisition systems; analyzes and reviews data for appropriateness.
  • Installs engines and components in test cells or test rigs.
  • Fabricates necessary piping, tubing, and brackets from prints and drawings.
  • Diagnoses engine and test cell problems.
  • Configures and operates engines or rigs, measuring and recording data as requested.
  • Performs preventative maintenance on engines, test cells or test rigs.
  • Executes written work requests and reports on results in a specified format.
  • Supports technicians and engineers as required.
  • Understands and applies appropriate Company and department rules and guidelines to work.
  • Interfaces with customers, suppliers, engineers and other functions.
  • Participates in the maintenance of quality procedures.
  • Participates in improvement projects.
  • Develops and gives presentations to customers and suppliers.

  • Disassembles, inspects, measures, and rebuilds production and experimental engines and related components; accurately records all measurements and findings.
  • Configures, operates, and troubleshoots data acquisition systems; reviews and analyzes data to confirm accuracy and suitability.
  • Installs engines and components into test cells and/or test rigs; supports test setup, execution, and teardown activities.
  • Fabricates required piping, tubing, brackets, and related hardware using prints, drawings, and specifications.
  • Diagnoses and resolves engine, instrumentation, and test cell issues; documents root cause and corrective actions as needed.
  • Executes written work requests/work orders and provides clear results and updates in the required format and systems.
  • Partners with technicians and engineers to support build, test, and troubleshooting needs; communicates effectively across teams.
  • Interfaces professionally with internal stakeholders as well as customers and suppliers, when required.
  • Follows and helps maintain quality procedures; participates in audits and corrective action activities.
  • Participates in continuous improvement initiatives and projects to improve safety, quality, and efficiency.
  • Maintains a clean, organized, and safe work area (5S/housekeeping).
  • Knows and complies with all departmental and company safety policies, procedures, and guidelines; uses required PPE.
  • Handles sensitive information appropriately and maintains confidentiality.
  • Participates in self- and team-audits and associated corrective actions.
  • Performs other duties as assigned to support operational needs.
