About The Position

We are sharing a specialised part-time consulting opportunity for mechanical engineering professionals experienced in technical problem review, solution validation, engineering fundamentals, quality assurance, and structured written feedback. This role supports current and upcoming remote consulting opportunities focused on mechanical engineering content review, technical solution evaluation, problem-solving validation, methodological accuracy, and high-quality project execution. Selected professionals will apply their engineering expertise to review technical problems, evaluate solutions and explanations, identify errors or gaps in reasoning, and provide clear written feedback based on structured evaluation criteria.

Requirements

  • A degree in Mechanical Engineering or a closely related field
  • Strong command of core mechanical engineering fundamentals
  • Ability to work technical problems rigorously from first principles
  • Sharp attention to detail and ability to identify subtle technical errors
  • Clear written communication skills and ability to explain engineering judgments precisely
  • Comfort working independently and applying structured evaluation criteria consistently
  • Ability to work in a remote, project-based environment
  • A bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering or a closely related engineering field is expected
  • Practical experience in engineering analysis, technical review, tutoring, grading, quality assurance, research, or applied mechanical engineering is highly relevant

Nice To Haves

  • Prior experience in technical review, grading, tutoring, engineering education, problem development, or quality assurance
  • Familiarity with reviewing engineering explanations, worked solutions, calculations, and conceptual problem-solving steps
  • Experience with statics, dynamics, thermodynamics, fluids, heat transfer, mechanics of materials, machine design, or related subdomains
  • Ability to explain technical issues clearly for both expert and non-expert readers
  • Strong consistency when applying detailed guidelines across repetitive review tasks
  • A master's degree, PhD, research background, or advanced technical coursework may be especially valuable

Responsibilities

  • Review technical problems, solutions, and explanations across mechanical engineering topics
  • Evaluate materials for accuracy, completeness, clarity, and methodological soundness
  • Assess whether solutions are supported by correct engineering principles, formulas, assumptions, and reasoning
  • Identify technical errors, ambiguous explanations, missing steps, or gaps in problem-solving logic
  • Apply strong mechanical engineering fundamentals across areas such as statics, dynamics, thermodynamics, fluid mechanics, heat transfer, mechanics of materials, and machine design
  • Validate technical reasoning using first-principles engineering judgment
  • Review calculations, conceptual explanations, diagrams, assumptions, and solution methods for correctness
  • Support quality review of materials requiring rigorous mechanical engineering analysis
  • Apply consistent evaluation standards across a range of engineering problems and explanations
  • Calibrate review judgments against established quality benchmarks and project guidelines
  • Provide clear, well-justified written feedback explaining why a solution or explanation is accurate, incomplete, or technically flawed
  • Maintain accuracy, consistency, and professional judgment across submitted review work

Benefits

  • Competitive hourly compensation
  • Flexible scheduling
  • Competitive rates up to $80 per hour depending on expertise and project scope
