Mechanical Engineering Project Manager MEP- Arlington, VA
About The Position
Bala Consulting Engineers is seeking a Mechanical Engineering Project Manager for their Arlington, VA office. This role involves managing select projects, developing a team capable of executing large-scale projects regionally and nationally, providing technical expertise, serving as a staff resource, and supporting sales efforts through client relationship management. The position is described as dynamic and entrepreneurial, with opportunities for advancement and a focus on collaboration and knowledge sharing across all five of Bala's offices. The Project Manager will be responsible for their own projects and for supporting the growth of those around them.
Requirements
- At least eight years’ experience in engineering consulting or adjacent field (construction, owner’s representative, etc.)
- Bachelor’s degree in engineering or other relevant field
- PE license preferred
- Strong technical writing skills
- Knowledge of building codes
- Strong interpersonal and teambuilding skills
- Knowledge of Sustainable certification programs
Responsibilities
- Manage projects, with emphasis potentially in Real Estate, Highrise, Tenant Improvement, Mission Critical, Life Sciences, and/or Building Infrastructure.
- Perform project management functions including scope responsibilities, client management, scheduling, and financials.
- Vet company processes and provide input.
- Develop and support assistant project managers to eventually perform independently.
- Serve as a technical resource for staff.
- Utilize quality control reviews to reinforce technical lessons and company processes.
- Complete internal peer reviews and provide input in multi-discipline page turns across offices for comprehensive design development.
- Perform page turns prior to all major project deliverables.
- Provide input utilizing sound engineering principles.
- Provide input on individual staff member performance, advancement, and potential.
- Review workforce projections and determine staffing needs.
- Identify strategies to adjust design schedules based on staffing.
- Drive ownership, accountability, and culture within the company.
- Interact with partners and executives to advance the firm's growth and quality agenda.
- Identify potential business opportunities.
- Collaborate with the leadership team to develop fees for complex projects.
- Develop and maintain client relationships.
- Grow the volume and market sector footprint of the office.
