About The Position

The Manager, Mechanical Engineering provides senior-level mechanical engineering expertise for MPS’s offsite manufacturing and modular power solutions. This role is responsible for leading the design, development, analysis, and optimization of mechanical systems that support scalable modular MPS’s offsite manufacturing model and delivery. This role partners closely with electrical and structural engineering, manufacturing, quality, supply chain, and operations teams to ensure designs are technically sound, manufacturable, scalable, code-compliant, and aligned with customer requirements. As MPS continues to grow, this individual will also be expected to build, lead, and manage a team of engineers by providing technical direction, mentoring talent, establishing engineering technical standards, mentoring talent, prioritizing work, and creating scalable processes that support engineering excellence, operational execution, and long-term business growth.

Requirements

  • Advanced proficiency in mechanical engineering design principles for HVAC, plumbing, cooling, central plant, and related systems within large commercial, industrial, modular, or offsite manufacturing environments.
  • Strong working knowledge of relevant building codes, regulations, industry standards (e.g., ASHRAE, IPC, IMC, NFPA), and requirements associated with PE-sealed engineering documents.
  • Proficiency with mechanical design software, including Autodesk Revit, AutoCAD, and specialized mechanical analysis tools.
  • Ability to interpret blueprints, technical drawings, specifications, and project documents accurately.
  • Excellent problem-solving skills with the capacity to analyze complex technical issues and propose effective solutions.
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills to collaborate effectively with internal teams, external partners, and clients.
  • Ability to work with a high degree of autonomy, manage multiple complex priorities, and provide technical leadership under limited supervision.
  • Demonstrated ability to build, lead, and manage an engineering team, including mentoring engineers, establishing technical standards, and creating scalable processes, and supporting to support business growth.
  • Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering from an ABET-accredited institution.
  • Minimum 10 years of progressive mechanical engineering experience, preferably supporting large infrastructure, modular, industrial, or offsite manufacturing projects.
  • Active Professional Engineer (PE) license with ability to stamp/seal mechanical engineering documents is required.
  • Valid Driver's License and ability to meet Rosendin's driving standards.

Nice To Haves

  • Modular infrastructure, manufacturing, or large-scale industrial experience is preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Lead the design, development, and analysis of mechanical systems supporting modular power and offsite-manufactured solutions, including HVAC, plumbing, cooling, central plant systems, and related mechanical components.
  • Develop detailed 3D models, engineering drawings, specifications, and fabrication packages using Revit, AutoCAD, SolidWorks, or other approved design software.
  • Perform and review engineering calculations, equipment sizing, thermal analyses, airflow evaluations, and other mechanical analyses to optimize system performance, reliability, manufacturability, and cost for large infrastructure projects.
  • Collaborate with electrical, structural, manufacturing, quality, supply chain, and operations teams to ensure mechanical designs integrate seamlessly within modular products and manufacturing processes.
  • Serve as a senior technical resource for mechanical design considerations within modular and offsite manufacturing environments, including cooling strategies, equipment layouts, constructability, and product integration.
  • Review customer specifications, project requirements, equipment submittals, and vendor documentation for modular infrastructure projects to ensure compliance with project objectives, manufacturing standards, and engineering requirements.
  • Visit job sites to conduct field surveys, assess existing mechanical conditions, and provide solutions to design-related challenges during construction.
  • Ensure all mechanical designs and installations comply with applicable building codes, industry standards (e.g., ASHRAE, IPC, IMC, NFPA), client specifications, and Professional Engineer (PE) stamping/sealing requirements where applicable.
  • Contribute to the development and standardization of engineering practices, design templates, product innovations, and continuous improvement initiatives that support MPS's growth and operational excellence.
  • Build, develop, and manage a team of engineers as MPS continues to scale, including providing technical direction, coaching, workload prioritization, and support for engineering standards, and accountability for team performance.
