About The Position

We are seeking a Mechanical Engineering Manager in Severn, MD, to lead a team of space electromechanical engineers and aerospace mechanical engineers. This role involves managing the application of mechanical principles to components and systems, including assembly, analysis, and documentation of results for space systems. The manager will oversee support and participation in the design, test, modification, fabrication, and assembly of prototype and flight electromechanical systems and circuit card assemblies. Additionally, the role is responsible for coordinating subordinate employee recruitment, selection, training, performance assessment, work assignments, salary, and recognition/disciplinary actions. The manager will lead a team of 8-12 mechanical, aerospace, and electro-mechanical engineers.

Requirements

  • 2+ years leading a technical team
  • Experience with resource management, management of direct reports, interviewing and hiring, mentoring/guiding of direct reports, performance reviews & compensation
  • US Citizen. Ability to obtain & maintain a security clearance

Nice To Haves

  • 5+ years Engineering Management Experience and/or Integrated Product Team Leadership
  • 8+ years of related experience and technical degree such as Mechanical, Electro-Mechanical, or related degree or 5+ years of related experience and related post-secondary degree technical degree or 15+ years of relevant technical experience
  • Experience with SolidWorks, CREO, Windchill, Ansys, MS Project
  • Experience with Space System Design, Fabrication, Test, and Operation
  • Experience with Electronics Packaging / RF Electronics Packaging (board level through system level)
  • Experience/familiarity with solder joint fatigue analysis
  • Experience with IEEE Standards, IPC-2221, IPC-6012, Thermal Analysis, Structural analysis (static and dynamic - e.g. vibration, shock), ASME Y14.5, ASTM E595, NASA GEVS, SMC-S-016, EEE-INST-002
  • Experience with Requirements Management (DOORS) and Risk and Opportunities Management
  • Experience with proposals & full project lifecycle
  • Active TS/SCI security clearance
