About The Position

ASP is seeking a Mechanical Engineering Intern for its 10-week summer 2027 internship program. The program provides meaningful, project-based work with real business impact, hands-on experience, professional skill development, and exposure to ASP’s products, culture, and the Fortive Business System (FBS), its approach to continuous improvement and growth. The intern will support the design and development of mechanical systems and components for medical devices, working under senior engineers to deliver designs, documentation, and testing aligned with project goals.

Requirements

• Be working toward a degree in mechanical engineering or a related field, with graduation in December 2027 or later.
• Familiarity with CAD tools.
• Ability to work in person in Irvine, California.

Responsibilities

• Support the design and development of mechanical systems and components.
• Create 3D models and detailed drawings using CAD tools.
• Assist in generating requirements and documentation.
• Execute test protocols and analyze results.
• Collaborate with cross-functional teams to resolve technical issues.
• Apply FBS tools for continuous improvement.
• Maintain compliance with safety and quality standards.
• Perform failure analyses and prepare investigation reports.
