About The Position

Power Solutions International (PSI) is a leader in large gen-set packaging and enclosures. We provide turnkey, custom power packages that integrate alternators, cooling systems, controls, switchgear, cabling, and protection, delivered as containerized, skid, or walk-in solutions. Our team manages the full lifecycle from application engineering and 3D design to structural fabrication, wiring and piping, sound and thermal management, code compliance, factory acceptance testing, and site support. With scalable production capacity and disciplined program management, PSI delivers repeatable quality and reliable performance on complex builds for mission-critical and industrial applications worldwide. The Mechanical Engineering Intern will support mechanical and/or electrical engineering activities, including drafting and maintaining technical drawings, performing engineering calculations, generating as-built documentation, assisting in product design, performing bench testing, and providing engineering support during prototype and first article build activities.

Requirements

  • Currently enrolled in or recently graduated from a Bachelor's degree program in Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, or a related engineering discipline.
  • Basic proficiency with CAD software such as AutoCAD, SolidWorks, or equivalent engineering design tools.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office applications, including Word, Excel, and PowerPoint.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills.
  • Ability to work both independently and as part of a cross-functional engineering team in a fast-paced environment.
  • Strong attention to detail and organizational skills.

Nice To Haves

  • Experience with engineering drawings, assemblies, or technical documentation
  • Familiarity with manufacturing or product development environments.
  • Interest in power generation, industrial equipment, or energy systems.

Responsibilities

  • Revise and maintain engineering drawings, including revising legacy title blocks and formatting to current PSI engineering standards.
  • Work with engineering team members to update drawings for shipped units and generate as-built revisions in accordance with engineering change processes.
  • Develop new assembly drawings and documentation based on engineering markups and design revisions.
  • Support manufacturing and production teams by answering engineering-related questions and assisting with interpretation of engineering documentation.
