Mechanical Engineering Intern (Summer 2027)
About The Position
Raytheon’s Optics and Electronic Warfare Hardware Engineering Center is seeking technical interns to support multidisciplinary teams designing, building, and testing advanced surveillance and defense systems for land, sea, airborne, and space applications. Under the guidance of a team lead, the intern will contribute to technical tasks while learning about schedule and budget expectations. The role provides collaboration with engineers across disciplines, skill-development training and technical support from Raytheon engineering experts, and opportunities to document and present work. The position is onsite in McKinney, Texas, for Summer 2027.
Requirements
- Be pursuing a bachelor's or advanced degree in Mechanical Engineering, Aerospace Engineering, or a related STEM major and remain actively enrolled through the internship/co-op session.
- Have at least 60 credit hours by the start of the internship/co-op session.
- U.S. citizenship is required because only U.S. citizens are authorized to access information under the program/contract.
Nice To Haves
- Experience with Geometric Dimensioning and Tolerancing (GD&T).
- Experience modeling and drafting with PTC Creo CAD software.
- Experience with hardware prototyping or modification.
- A cumulative GPA of 3.0 is desired.
Responsibilities
- Support concept development and prototyping.
- Support detailed design and analysis.
- Provide supplier support.
- Support hardware builds and testing.
- Work under a team lead to understand the technical, schedule, and budget expectations for assigned tasks.
- Collaborate with engineers across disciplines to achieve program and customer goals.
