The Lubrizol Corporation is looking for highly motivated Mechanical Engineering students for our Operations Co-op Program to start in our program in the Spring or Summer 2027 semester.

Requirements

  • Must be authorized to work in the United States without requiring work authorization sponsorship by our company for this position now or in the future.
  • Students who are interested in working in a chemical manufacturing environment.
  • Students currently pursuing an undergraduate degree in Mechanical Engineering from an accredited university, with a graduation date between December 2028 through May 2030.
  • Completion of two co-op terms is required, while three or more are strongly preferred.
  • Co-op terms should be full time (40 hours per week), with one or more terms scheduled in the fall or spring semester.
  • Students are responsible for reliable transportation to and from their work location during their co-op term.
  • Some sites may require co-ops to have a transportation method during work hours to get to various locations in the plant.
  • Students with GPA > 3.0 will be given priority consideration.

  • Three or more co-op terms are strongly preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Learn the day-to-day roles that mechanical support plays in the upkeep and improvement of plant processes.
  • Work directly with the equipment and end users and improving upon the designs of process equipment.
  • Work directly with the craftsmen in understanding rotational equipment such as pumps and agitators.
  • Gain an in-depth knowledge of the design and maintenance required to keep equipment functioning properly.
  • Handle maintenance projects from design through construction.
  • Lead capital projects from design through construction.
  • Work with instrumentation, configuring control systems, troubleshooting, improving upon the designs of process equipment, working with the craftsmen, and gaining invaluable experience with chemical processing equipment.
  • Learn the critical roles that mechanical and automation support play in all processes while working firsthand with the processing engineers to understand the needs of the unit and translate that into a concrete project.
  • Present work at the end of each work session to improve public speaking skills and hear what other co-ops are doing.
